Summer, the time for TOURING!!!!

Gigging, Gigging & Gigging :-)

Hello beautiful people,

Today is here, drum roll please…I’d like to officially declare that as of 8.45pm this evening ‘Time Ashore’ will officially be ‘released’ HURRAY!!!!

I’ll be supporting the Spooky Mens Chorale for their evening Ham concert at Sidmouth Folk week to a sold out 1,200 capacity marquee…eeeeeek!!! (the band, Simon, Philippe & Oli will be joining me)

I’m not nervous at all…

If you already have the album, Thank You from the bottom of my toes, If you haven’t got the album, here is a free download from Bandcamp for your ears. If you find the noise pleasantly pleasing please head over to my website where you’ll find the ENTIRE ALBUM TO BUY 😀 😀 😀
I’m just a tad super excited!!!

If you’ve supported the album through Kickstarter or pre-orders, (THANK YOU!) your CDs should all have arrived by now. I hope you’ve been enjoying the album, if not, it makes a great frisbee 😉

(Picture below from my first gig supporting the Spooky Men at their gig in Oxford, according to rumour I’m the only folk singer ever to sing solo in the Sheldonian – What an honour! )

So far the tour has been going amazingly, Simon Dumpleton and I had an absolute blast on tour for 7days in July, we met some wonderful people, it was just a joy to have company on the road too. Thank you to all of those who put us up, came to the gigs and sang with us.

As well as the album coming out today, another ridiculously surreal experience was waking up VERY early last Sunday morning to pick up the Observer from the paper shop & find a lovely review. James Soars has been doing the publicity, I couldn’t be more grateful for all of his support and hard work in littering the radios with my noise.

Get yours here – Time Ashore

Below are the front & back of the tour flyers, designed by the incredibly talented and beautiful Katy Coope, with a whole list of dates that I’ve organised to celebrate today…

If you head over to my website or to Facebook events, you’ll see the list of gigs there too, I’m thoroughly enjoying  The Spooky Men’s Chorale  tour so far. Last night we had a feast for 25 spooks and partners, my early night before tonights gig was blown out of the window by an evening of delicious food, wine, singing & dancing until the early hours of this morning.

Still time to buy tickets for the official tour in SEPTEMBER  with the full band (Simon Dumpleton & Philippe Barnes) Jess Vincent as support with her brand new album ‘Shine’ and a few special guests. The dates for this are:
13th – Liverpool – Nordic Church
14th – Sheffield – Crookes Social Club
15th – London – Cecil Sharp House
16th – Oxford – North Wall Arts Centre
17th – Trowbridge – Village pump
(Tickets available at wegottickets or click on the links above)

There will be party poppers and balloons at the gig this evening, if you can’t make it, get yourself a glass of wine, put on the CD & help me celebrate from home :-)

Warm wishes & huge thanks for your continuous  support

Rehearsals, Recordings & Gigs

September, the month for Creativity

Recording, Rehearsing & Gigs

I thought that after the Summer, September would be a quiet month to recover, but I was quite wrong. (Although I have had some relaxing days in the countryside) The start of the month I had a visiting friend from Sydney who I’d met while I was over there this winter. We spent a few days singing & went to see the Teacups at the Shakespeares in Sheffield, anyone who hasnt heard of them should look them up, they’re a great 4 part harmony singing group newly graduation from Newcastle Uni Folk Degree. We finished the evening by singing harmonies till 3am on a bench by Bole Hill (near my house) with a fellow Australian on a seperate trip & coincidentally in Sheffield at the same time.

Last week I spent 4days staying at a barn in Shropshire at a friends barn for a musical retreat, I’ve decided to get myself back in to playing the trumpet after an 18month break (mainly due to not living anywhere & now living in a terrace I don’t think the neighbours would like me) in time for the album tour next Spring/Summer! (very excited) This time was also spent singing very loudly in the open air & climbing trees of course. In between all the wild life I did sneak on to the computer to start organising the tour & I’m very pleased to say that a handful of gigs are being put into place for New Zealand, America & Canada next year & the first confirmed trio gig with Nick & Judith Hooper at Ely Folk Club on July 15th with unconfirmed support from Lizzy Doe (does artwork for Nancy Kerr & James Fagan’s albums)  – This Postcard was on the board at the barn where I was staying – I agree whole heartedly…

Finally bringing us to this week…Monday morning was spent in Stonesfield at Hats off Studio (where the album will be recorded) doing session work for ‘Childs Play’ who write children’s books with extended nursery rhymes for teaching children English (American company who also work in Australia). I had the joy of singing & speaking through ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ & ‘Little Miss Muffet’ (who knew that children’s nursery rhymes could be so rude) Probably the most colourful score I will ever sing from (the book artwork is very fun) I’ll keep you posted for when they come out in England & you can laugh at my attempt of singing nursery rhymes.

Yesterday I had the honour of Supporting & my first attempt at MC’ing for the wonderful ‘Nancy Kerr, Martin Simpson & Andy Cutting’ (Simpson, Cutting & Kerr) They are now on tour so do check to see if they’re coming near you. It was a breathtaking night, so much talent in one band. A night you won’t want to miss.

Tomorrow I’m heading over to Liverpool to rehearse with English Spooky Man James Sills who is also in ‘The Rough Island Band’ & runs various choirs in Liverpool. We have organised a weekend of house concerts so anyone in Liverpool (19th), Oxford (20th) or Sheffield (21st) want to know about these gigs let me know. A collaboration & an excuse for me to try out more of my self penned songs & to sing harmonies, we will be joined by numerous special guests.

(A few people mentioned the link didn’t work on the last email so here is another one that does)

Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy – Sound Cloud

Next week doesn’t stop there! 3day rehearsal with Philippe Barnes for the album for …duh duh duh (drum roll) the first days of recording…Woohoo!!! 29th & 30th September myself & 6 friends will be going in the studio to start off the album. I am more then words can explain excited & looking forward to sharing the outcome with you. I’d like to record as much of it LIVE as possible so I can promise they’ll be lots of harmonies, laughter & dancing going on!

The tour planning will continue so if any of you know anyone who puts on house concerts or if there’s a folk club near you, please do let me know & I’ll try and get over your way with the band.

In the mean time, any of you going to Derby Folk Festival in October I’ll see you there (I’ll be there as a punter celebrating my friends 23rd Birthday)
Hope you’re well & enjoying the tail end of summer/the turning of Autumn

Warm Wishes,

Kirsty Bromley

Test #1

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Hi :-) This is just a quick tester e-mail to see if I know how to send a mailing list & also to share with you some tracks I’ve been working on this week with a Sheffield Band ‘Anytown’

Recording Sessions

Just a little update to what I’ve been up to & what I’m planning

Firstly Thank You for joining my mailing list, I’ve added you by request either through Kickstarter, festivals, gigs or generally just knowing you but if you would like to be taken off I believe there is a link to unsubscribe or send me an email telling me to bugger off :-)

A few weeks ago I went down to Oxfordshire to record with Nick & Judith Hooper, I’m yet to decide what to do with the tracks but I’ll send a link to access the mp3 of Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy or you can follow this link to the video on YouTube – http://youtu.be/yQVD8rmVweI

Another project I’ve been doing in the studio is with Sheffield based band called ‘Anytown’ Their lead female singer has moved down to London so they’ve asked me if I’d like to fill in any gaps for local gigs & to finish the recording of their latest album, here is a preview of what we got up to http://youtu.be/OWDTh-yVgmU

2 more recording projects…

An Australian song writer called Ted has asked if I’d record on a track he’s written to commemorate the centenary of the WWI, this song is based on a lady who lives near by in Perth Australia who lived in Sheffield through the War & worked in the Steel industry. Ted has asked for some constructive feedback from people who live in England so i thought the best way to do that is to share it with you & see what you think? (this might be in a separate email as i can’t figure out how to include it)

Finally I’m currently booking time in the studio for September & October, I’m looking forward to keeping you posted with whats going on. Will be recording as much as we can LIVE, they’ll be plenty of photos and videos to keep you involved as we go along :-)

Great to meet & see some of you over the festivals so far this summer, I had a fantastic time at Cambridge Folk Festival, especially singing on Stage 2 as part of Brian McNeil’s session, a mini spot on the club tent with accompaniments from Jamie Roberts and finishing off at Coldhams Common on Sunday night. Straight on to Sidmouth for the week & will be popping over to Whitby next week to see how the John Birmingham Song Competition is going. Oh & I’ve just got tickets to go to Towersey & might be sneaking over to Denmark for Tonder festival. See you there? If any of you have any extra hours to spare I’d be grateful for them please?

Warm wishes
